Jacqueline Mersereau
Jacqueline Mersereau is a Master of Forestry (MF) student in the Department of Renewable Resources at the University of Alberta. She graduated with a BSc Honors in Chemistry from Queen’s University in 2018 where her undergraduate research used computation chemistry techniques to evaluate potential fuel cell catalysts. After working as an analytical chemist in the biopharmaceutical industry she has returned to academia to switch gears and pursue new studies in line with her environmental interests. While spending extensive time backpacking through recently-burned areas of the Rockies she developed an interest in understanding wildfire patterns and the decisions we make around their prevention and control. For her course-based MF program, Jaqueline will complete a capstone project with a focus on wildfire.
