Kennedy Korkola
Kennedy Korkola is a PhD candidate at the University of Toronto supervised by Dr. Patrick James. Kennedy has joined the Wildfire Analytics team through a research collaboration with The James Lab.
Kennedy completed her BSc in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and Human Biology at the University of Toronto. During the summers, she works as a Fire Ranger in Northwestern Ontario which provides her with practical knowledge on fire behaviour and management in Ontario. She is working towards her MScF in which she will investigate the relationship between spruce budworm and forest fires. In particular, she wants to understand whether defoliated stands increase the risk of a fire escaping initial attack and how we can use predictive models to better understand and respond to these fires.
